In conducting IT projects for enterprise
customers, Conamex uses a phased approach based on defined milestones
in order to meet budgetary, scheduling and engineering goals while
minimizing business disruption. Conamex's methodology utilizes
industry project management standards based on the best practices
defined by the Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) and includes
requirements definition, design and architecture proposals, pilots,
design tuning, and expert implementation. All phases are documented
to provide a detailed description of technical services delivered
and to assist in ongoing system maintenance.
This figure illustrates the Microsoft Solutions
Framework Process Model Phases and Milestones:
Highlights of Conamex's methodology for enterprise
IT projects are:
- The Envisioning Phase:
Requirements Definition
The envisioning phase focuses on achieving a shared understanding
of a project's goals. Conamex works with enterprise clients
to develop a clear vision of a project's technical and business
objectives, and Conamex will help define how an IT project will
deliver business value. This phase establishes the project's
structure, develops pilot plans and testing strategies, and
addresses deployment implications, operations management and
supportability, and operational acceptance criteria.
- The Planning Phase:
Design and Architecture Proposals
During the planning phase most of the planning for an
enterprise IT project is completed. Conamex helps create the
functional specification, the master project plan including
milestones, and the risk management plan. Conamex also analyzes
documentation and training requirements and finalizes work plans,
cost estimates, and schedules for the various deliverables.
Because major projects are iterative and require flexibility,
Conamex follows a formal change control process that allows
projects to evolve successfully while staying within budgetary
guidelines.
- The Developing Phase:
Pilots
In the developing phase, Conamex's extensive experience
setting up pilot systems makes it possible to reduce engineering
risk and business disruption by thoroughly testing new infrastructure
prior to deployment. Conamex has world-class skill in setting
up proof-of-concept tests for enetrprise deployments of key
Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory Help,
Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, Exchange 2000 Server,
Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, and Microsoft SQL Server
2000 Help
- The Stabilizing Phase:
Design Tuning
The stabilizing phase is an iterative process that involves
tweaking IT infrastructure based on the results of pilot testing
and feedback from the clients and users. Testing during this
phase emphasizes functionality, performance and stability under
realistic environmental conditions. Conamex's experience with
this process can help eliminate business disruption when the
project leaves the testing phase and becomes integrated into
the production environment.
- The Deploying Phase:
Implementation
During the deployment phase, Conamex deploys the core
technology and site components, stabilizes the deployment, transitions
the project to operations and support, and obtains final customer
approval of the project. After the deployment, Conamex conducts
a project review and a customer satisfaction survey.
